Ngige, Gambari to lead FG delegation as talks on ASUU Strike Resume with union today

Discussions will resume with the Federal Government after a breakdown in negotiations.

According to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), in a statement released on Wednesday night, discussions will resume with the Federal Government today after a breakdown in negotiations a few days ago.

The disclosure states that the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari alongside the Minister of Labour, Ngige will be at the negotiation table on the side of the FG.

It stated, “Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, alongside the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, will be hosting a meeting between the FG and the Academic Staff Union of Universities”

It added that other registered Trade Unions in Nigerian universities will also be around for negotiations on Thursday.

This development comes shortly after the Academic Staff Union of Universities extended its strike by 3 additional months, citing ‘Government’s failure to live up to its responsibilities’

The Union claimed that no notice of meeting was served for Sunday by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
