Asia-Pacific equities were higher after better-than-expected earnings from Chinese technology groups led to reduced losses in the sector as investors remained concerned over slowing economic growth.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.8 per cent while China’s CSI 300 index opened flat before rising 0.5 per cent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng benchmark, Hang Seng eked out a gain of 0.1 per cent, reversing negative sentiment on Wall Street the day before which caused the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite to drop 2.3 per cent.
