Bandits attack President Buhari’s security convoy, burn down 2 health centres in Katsina

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity confirmed this on Tuesday evening.

Bandits in Katsina attacked the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers of President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of his trip to Daura for the Sallah celebration.

Mallam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity confirmed on Tuesday evening that the shooting occurred near Dutsinma, Katsina State.

According to the media aide, the attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions and injuring two persons; they were however repelled by the military, police and Department of State Service personnel accompanying the convoy.

“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered and All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.”

Batsari Local Government of Katsina also suffered attacks as two primary health centres were completely razed, compelling the state government to order the closure of 69 out of over 1,800 health centres in the state. This was confirmed by the Executive Secretary of Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya.

“Most of the health facilities in the area were taken over by the miscreants, and the solar refrigerators provided in such facilities have been converted to use by the bandits.

“The affected primary healthcare facilities are located in different areas of Jibia, Safana, Batsari, Faskari, Sabuwa and other frontline LGAs of the state,” he said.
