NIGERIA REMOVED FROM AIRCRAFT LEASING BLACKLIST

Nigeria has reportedly been removed from the aircraft leasing blacklist after the Federal Government signed the Cape Town Convention Practice Directions. This development is expected to make aircraft leasing easier and more affordable for Nigerian airlines, reducing operational costs and boosting investor confidence in the sector.

The Chief Operating Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, reportedly welcomed the decision, stating that it will provide airlines with better access to leased aircraft, ultimately improving fleet expansion and service efficiency.

Industry stakeholders also suggest this move could enhance Nigeria’s aviation industry by attracting more leasing companies to do business in the country.
