In a statement on Monday, the tech giant said the investment would fuel advancements in AI, silicon engineering, and workforce development —equipping students and professionals with cutting-edge skills.
Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive officer (CEO), emphasised the company’s commitment to bolstering American manufacturing.
“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” Cook said.
“From doubling our Advanced Manufacturing Fund, to building advanced technology in Texas, we’re thrilled to expand our support for American manufacturing. And we’ll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation”.
The company said a key part of the investment includes a new AI server facility in Texas, spanning 250,000 square feet and billed to open in 2026.
The US government has long encouraged tech firms to manufacture semiconductors domestically, offering incentives through the CHIPS and Science Act.
At the moment, Nvidia dominates the AI chip market with its powerful graphics processing units (GPUs) used in data centers and machine learning applications.
Apple, which currently relies on Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for chip production, is expected to shift more semiconductor manufacturing to the US with the investment.
The development aligns with a broader national push to lead in AI innovation.
In January, President Donald Trump announced the $500 billion Stargate Project, aimed at securing America’s dominance in AI and creating more jobs.
