NGX Insurance Trade 72.36m shares Across 951 Deals

Trading activity in the insurance sector of the Nigerian Exchange Limited remained strong on Tuesday, as investors exchanged 72.36 million shares across 951 deals, with Cornerstone Insurance Plc and International Energy Insurance Plc emerging as the top gainers.

Market data showed that Cornerstone Insurance Plc recorded the highest price gain of 9.25 per cent, closing at N3.19, followed closely by International Energy Insurance Plc, which appreciated by 8.99 per cent to close at N1.94.

Other gainers in the sector included Lasaco Assurance Plc, which rose by 7.55 per cent to N2.85, and Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, which gained six per cent to close at N1.06. Universal Insurance Plc also recorded a 3.39 per cent increase, closing at N0.61, while Consolidated Hallmark Holdings Plc advanced by 4.52 per cent to N3.70.

Conversely, Guinea Insurance Plc led the losers’ chart, shedding 7.35 per cent to close at N0.63, followed by Prestige Assurance Plc, which declined by 6.14 per cent to N1.07. Linkage Assurance Plc dropped by five per cent to N1.14, while Regency Assurance Plc and Coronation Insurance Plc fell by 2.82 per cent and two per cent, respectively.

In terms of market capitalisation, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc led with N81bn, followed by AIICO Insurance Plc at N60.39bn and NEM Insurance Plc at N70.23bn. Sunu Assurances Nigeria Plc had a market capitalisation of N28.53bn, while Lasaco Assurance Plc stood at N31.59bn.
