56% male, 43% female… 117m Nigerians get NIN

According to data from NIMC’s enrollment dashboard, a total of 66,281,803 or 56.5 percent of the registered individuals are males, while 51,079,521 (43.5 percent) are female.

The commission said Lagos is taking the lead with over 12.6 million registrants, while Kano followed with 10.2 million.

“NIMC’s enrolment figures as at February 28, 2025 currently stand at over 117 million unique records,” the commission said.

“The highest cumulative enrolment figure of over 12.6 million was recorded in Lagos State.

“Regional figures indicated an almost equal distribution across the North and South.”

The data also showed that Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Ekiti had the lowest enrollment figures among the states.

NIMC said Bayelsa recorded 758,111 registrations, followed by Ebonyi (990,775) and Ekiti (1,143,102).

Other states that ranked among the bottom 1o, according to NIMC, include Cross River (1,397,233), Taraba (1,768,754), and Yobe (1,857,532).

The agency said 1,912,382 registrations came from Kogi, adding that Enugu, Kwara, and Imo recorded enrollments of 1,946,464; 2,004,667; 2,024,423, respectively.

The commission said Kaduna (6,945,818) trailed behind Kano in the top 10 list of NIN registrations, led by Lagos.

Others on the list include Ogun (4,926,721), Oyo (4,539,340), Katsina, (4,019,964), and the federal capital territory (Abuja) with 3,795,690 registrations.

Additionally, NIMC said Rivers recorded 3,532,787 enrollments, Delta had 3,198,779 while Bauchi registered 3,078,996.
