United Nigeria Airlines restores flight booking services after ‘system downtime’

In a statement signed by Chibuike Uloka, its public relations officer, the airline confirmed that flight bookings, ticket modifications, and check-in services are now fully operational across all platforms.

“We wish to inform our valued customers and the flying public that our systems are now fully restored,” United Airlines said.

“Flight bookings, ticket modifications, and check-in services are now restored across all our platforms – website, mobile app, airport locations, and contact centre.

“We sincerely apologize for any disruption caused by the global outage and remain committed to providing you with seamless flight operations.”

On Tuesday, the airline announced it experienced a system downtime, which affected flight bookings and payment services.

Experts said system downtimes in the airline industry, whether due to IT outages, maintenance issues, or other factors, often lead to significant disruptions, including flight delays, cancellations, financial losses for airlines and inconvenience for passengers.

In July 2024, more than 4,000 flights were cancelled following a global information technology (IT) shutdown.
